Best Reusable Food Wrap
When we tested a variety of reusable storage wraps, we concluded that beeswax wrap is a fierce competitor to plastic. This is most true when it comes to the simple and central function of plastic wrap to store foods for later meals. Bees wrap. like plastic can cover bowls, keep produce fresh, and store sandwiches securely wrapped. While we were hard pressed to find a reusable food wrap made large enough to cover an entire pan of brownies, but we are hopeful that they will eventually be produced.
It’s worth noting that a reusable food wraps won’t last forever. With proper care, they can last six months to one year. The best reusable food wraps are compostable, which is clearly not the case with plastic wrap. Reusable food wraps can be used to pack a lunch, wrap up a half-eaten banana, and cover bowls of your favorite leftovers to tremendously cut down on the use of plastic. When the plastic wrap is reserved for times when truly nothing else will do then the reusable food wrap on hand can be utilized for everything else. This allows for sustainability and a natural alternative to plastic.
Reusable Food Wrap Conclusion
One of the main selling points of a reusable food wrap is that it’s made from materials you can feel good about. The best are made of bee’s wax, jojoba oil, tree resin, and organic cotton. They are a mixture of the first three ingredients painted in a thin layer onto sheets of organic cotton to produce a reusable food wrap. A clear advantage over plastic is the reusability. Once you’re done with your wrap, just wash it with gentle soap and cool water (hot water can melt it), then let it air-dry to use it again. Once the reusable food wrap has been used for six months to one year, it won’t work as well, but you can cut it into strips and then compost it. Alternatively, it can be used as a fire-starter!
